Do you wake up with a sore jaw, a dull headache, or a feeling of “tightness” that lingers throughout the day? Whether it’s caused by stress-induced clenching, nighttime grinding (bruxism), or an official diagnosis of Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Dysfunction, jaw pain is more than a nuisance—it can affect how you eat, speak, and even breathe.
At Creative Wellness Massage, we provide a targeted clinical approach to TMJ relief. We don’t just massage your neck and hope for the best; we focus on the intricate musculoskeletal system of the jaw to release the tension that’s holding you back.

The jaw is one of the most frequently used joints in the body, supported by a complex web of muscles and ligaments. When the masseter (the primary chewing muscle) or the temporalis (the muscle on the side of your head) becomes hyper-toned, it pulls the jaw out of alignment.
Our TMJ therapy involves specialized manual techniques to “reset” these muscles. We work both externally along the jawline and neck, and—with your consent—utilize gentle intra-oral massage (working inside the mouth with clinical gloves). This allows us to reach the pterygoid muscles, which are often the true culprits behind jaw clicking, locking, and deep-seated facial pain.
Decrease the constant “grip” of the masseter muscles to eliminate soreness while chewing or speaking.
Release the fascial pulls that travel from the jaw to the temples, reducing the frequency of chronic headaches.
Improve your range of motion, making it easier and more comfortable to open your mouth without clicking or “catching.
By calming the trigeminal nerve and relaxing the jaw, you signal to your entire nervous system that it is safe to down-regulate.
A TMJ relief session is highly focused and intentional.
Targeted Assessment: We begin by checking your jaw’s range of motion and identifying specific “trigger points” in the face, neck, and scalp.
Intra-Oral Work: For the most effective relief, your therapist may use a gloved finger to gently release muscles from inside the cheek. This is a very precise, slow technique that provides immediate “space” in the joint.
Integrated Care: Because the jaw is connected to the neck and shoulders, we often incorporate work on the sternocleidomastoid (SCM) and upper trapezius muscles to ensure a complete structural release.
You don’t have to live with a locked jaw or the constant threat of a tension headache. Experience a clinical, empathetic approach to TMJ relief that helps you breathe easier and live without facial pain.
